About Pilates

Pilates is a mind-body exercise system which evolved from the principles of the late Joseph Pilates in 1920s. Today, Pilates continues to grow in popularity and is renowned for its many health benefits as well as a total body conditioning system.

How does it work?

Pilates works differently from other forms of exercise in that it develops the body in an even way addressing underlying structural and muscular imbalances which can create on-going pain and difficulty with movement.

Regular practice strengthens the connection between mind and body bringing awareness to how you move in your daily life helping to resolve dysfunctional movement patterns and improves posture. So much more than just strengthening your core!

Who is Pilates for?

Pilates can be adapted to suit every body and every need  from children, teens, pregnancy, middle and advanced years. Because of the gentle and precise way Pilates exercises are performed, it is endorsed by GPs, physiotherapists and osteopaths as safe and effective.

Pilates is an ideal companion to existing exercise programme and sport or rehabilitation programme, and as a great stand-alone body conditioning routine in its own right.
